What is the Hockey Rating?
The Hockey Rating is an index that is calculated by combining several player statistics
such as points scored, plus/minus etc. and weights these factors to even out,
for example, forward’s scoring and defensemen’s time-on-ice.
Players, coaches, general managers, commentators, agents and fans would use the rating to determine
how apparently diverse players match up against one another.
Who are we?
Our principal, Trevor Seeney is a computer programmer with a BSc. in Mathematics and Statistics
and is a hockey fan. Trevor believes hockey would benefit by having a player rating system much like the
quarterback rating in football or the seeding in tennis.
